This Weekend’s Epic Canceled—Friday Work Day Scheduled! 

Mother Nature has spoken, and with the worsening weather forecast for this Saturday, we have decided to cancel the Spring Mountain Epic in Quincy. The forecast is currently calling for wet and cold weather, with overnight temperatures in the low 30s and the potential of 3 inches of snow to fall during the day, which could create hazardous conditions out on the trails and a subpar camping experience! 

If you live locally, or are already planning to be in the area, please join us for a work day on Friday, May 3 (when the weather is supposed to be much nicer—70 degrees and sunny!). Meet at Yuba Expeditions in Quincy at 9 a.m. We will plan to dig new trail on #6 (Upper Tollgate) up on Mount Hough and/or do maintenance on the Mount Hough Trail and be back around 3 p.m. Please pack your own lunch, water, and be sure to wear appropriate clothes for trail work. Please RSVP here ASAP to let us know if you plan to come Friday!

ALSO, if you were planning to arrive on Thursday to attend the premiere of the Backcountry Discovery Routes’ documentary of the new Northern California route at the movie theater in Quincy, you will still be able to camp at the fairgrounds after the film, then join the trail day on Friday.

The Trail Crew has several ongoing projects on Hough, including maintenance on trails throughout the mountain and construction on Trail #2, which will eventually connect the backside of Hough into Taylorsville, Upper Tollgate and a new section of Indian Falls Ridge that will create a third route down from the top of Hough.
